Winter on its way!

Writer: Peter DaytonPeter Dayton

Dear Friends,

As we head into the holiday hustle (this time with many of us resuming some forms of travel to see loved ones), I just wanted to poke my head into your open door to give you a few pieces of news!

Beautiful Doug Johnson Art calendars available!

I have been honored to share some of my husband's amazing art as it relates to my forthcoming vocal album with Katie Procell, but this is purely a pitch for his work as we enter the holiday season. He is selling 2022 calendars featuring his astoundingly beautiful watercolor paintings. Many of the paintings featured are views from my "studio in the sky" apartment window so of course I am fond of this collection, but these are just wonderful, evocative, comforting, and stimulating images that will help brighten your year even as we all navigate the collective headache of our (joyously) increasingly full schedules.

These calendars are priced at $25 per copy for local pickup and at $30 for postal delivery. These calendars are a limited edition, so get a copy for you or for a loved one as a holiday gift! You can contact me about them, or contact Doug directly by sending a payment through Venmo (@DougJohnsonArt) or through his website: https://dougjohnsonart.com

Upcoming Livestream Performance - Kyle Pearl plays "Los Visitantes de la Noche"

On Sunday, December 5, 2021, 5:20PM EST, cellist Kyle Pearl will perform my brooding, dramatic solo piece Cello Suite: Los Visitantes de la Noche at a recital of new pieces for solo cello at the University of Miami Frost School of Music in Miami, FL. Inspired by the works of Peruvian painter Fernando de Szyszlo, this 5-movement work responds to some of de Szyszlo's most vivid paintings. They say with new music that the second performance is the hardest one to get, and I'm overjoyed that Kyle is taking on this challenging and ambitious work. Best of all, we can all watch from the comfort of our own homes!

Keep an ear out for a Winter Solstice livestream!

I haven't worked out a date yet, but since family plans mean that the days right around Christmas are going to be free, I am hoping to do another piano livestream, since I have gotten a number of lovely comments from people who have enjoyed them during the 2020/pre-vaccine lockdown period. I hope you will tune in and invite my streamed piano sounds into your homes and your winter holiday celebrations! More coming soon!

Make sure you get your flu shots, your COVID boosters, and keep as safe and healthy as possible!

Best,

-Peter
